Welcome to The Man Pit

So I’m calling my new pad “The Man Pit”! Not sure why, cause there ain’t a whole lot that’s manly about me, but I like the name and I’m sticking with it. And it’s not like there are any other men here, just me. But I’ve been buying lots of furniture and other homely things and I just keep reminding myself… Man Pit, Man Pit, Man Pit. I want to look and feel like an adult man rather than the 14yo schoolgirl I am in most other respects.

As a result there’s lots of dark, heavy wood and muted tones. I even just bought a black leather armchair – now that’s BUTCH! I reckon I could even smoke a cigar sitting in that thing. Played it safe and got simple white coffee tables and crockery. The pieced-de-resistance is a retro blue couch that looks like its straight from the set of Mad Men. Got a silver manly lamp as well As long as no one looks closely at the CD collection or bookshelf I could even pass as a near-40, urban professional with some level of taste. Until I open my mouth that is.

Where I have gone horribly wrong with The Man Pit theme is the boudoir. I’ve always had a hankering for a four-poster wrought-iron bed. So I got myself one. And its SHINEY! How cool is that. Would like great in a modern take on an old-style B&B. Very soft and romantic, and very girly. Also got some heavy gold and blood red floral linen. And just to completely make it look like the set of Burlesque I have a giant ornate gold mirror above the bed. Oh well, at leats I’ll be happy in there. As would Cher.

The most brilliant thing, Foxtel turned around their installation in a DAY! Only one night with out Foxtel, thank god and thank you Foxtel.

Next on the shopping hit list are some deck chairs. I have a disproportionately big balcony that gets some beautiful afternoon sun so I want to be able to lounge out there and have the houseboy serve cocktails. Also need some art but I don’t really know what that means. I need something on the walls but me buying art is like Paris Hilton buying a chastity belt – pointless, no idea! I might just put some Madonna posters up in the Man Pit. Or a Young Talent Time poster, that’d be cool!

The Man Pit is coming together very nicely! I’m thinking I will be very happy here.

** Sorry no pics as I’m still waiting on some furniture, will take some for a post I’m planning “The Rules of Man Pit”.

Bro's Getting Married

My one and only brother, my Bro, is getting married this Saturday which is the coolest thing in the world! It's going to be a massive, brilliant event. And, as I have been demanding from him since the age of 10, I am Best Man for my Bro. Couldn’t be more proud! But unfortunately with the very proud position of Best Man comes the Best Man’s speech. WIth only two days to go I'm having a slight panic.

Everyone seems to have an opinion on what the Best Man's speech should be like. I'm feeling some pressure. It can really set the tone for the rest of the night. A funny, clever, topical BM’s speech can really get the party started. And you probably all know of weddings where it all goes tits-up after a bad or unfunny BM’s speech. I can not let that happen at my Bro’s wedding.

At the best of times I am a sentimental fool. At my Bro’s wedding my sentimental-factor hits 10+. How could it not??? All the elements are there. He's marrying his true partner and mother of his children, the gorgeous Kel. All our family will be there (remember, my family is like the mafia, we are also from Griffith!) and all our families closest friends. Plus of course my sister-in-law's family who are fabulous! Its gonna be a fantastc day and night. I’ll be speaking on behalf of Mumsy and I, with a big nod to Dadsy; I cry like a baby at the best of times so this is gonna be tough.

I'm reading all the tips...
Suits, cufflinks, ties and shoes – all organised. Mostly thanks to the soon-to-be-Mrs Murphy cause she is a MACHINE in the organisation stakes. If there is any organisation left up to Bro and I we will always come up short. Not in our genetic make-up me thinks, we’d be bankrupt if we were an events organising company. We were just lucky enough to pull off the Buck’s Night, anything more is too big for us. So for the big day I don’t have much to think about or prepare for - except the speech.

No one told me such a book existed
It’s really important to me for so many reasons that I get this right. It needs to be that weird mix of funny, sincere, official and BRIEF. I struggle with brief. The first time I was a Best Man, for my bestie Snuddo, I think it clocked in at 40mins. The wedding video is excruciating and still requires some heavy editing. The second time, when I was Matron of Honour for darling Cassandra Louise, it was at a fabulously informal gathering so it rolled off the tongue in a matter of minutes. Bro’s wedding is new ground and so not the time to be testing new material.

...and stealing lines!
There is one small thing I must be thankful for, and I will go to hell for saying it out loud. Until recently exBoyfriend was to be the MC but with the recent ‘change of circumstance’ a replacement has had to be found. Thank God! He so would have shown me up for being the second-rate public speaker that I am, he is a natural at it. Phew! Maybe I should be getting him to write the speech… (said with a hint of hope that there will be an offer made).

Best be off and get cracking on the speech! Cousin Trude, hope you are available for a test-run-through????

Next post: Like Priscilla Queen of the Dessert I will be en-route to Cobar for the much-anticipated wedding! Till then…

Me in Cobar!

Guess how old she is

She is 42 years old And look shes unbelievably young and beautiful. This is not an optical illusion and not even Photoshop These are wonders progress of hard work and genetics

It's a sad day.

It’s a sad day. Very sad. I don’t really have the energy to sugarcoat it today or try for some cheap gags. Its just plain and simple a sad day.

Today I move out of our little house and for the first time in 6 years I am on my own. I move in to my new bachelor pad today and begin a new chapter. There’s some great and exciting stuff about this but for today I am feeling like a sentimental old fool saying goodbye to some really good times and a relationship that was the longest and strongest of my life.

How can you not get all emotional at a time like this? I think irrelevant of the circumstances its always hard when something comes to an end. Especially something that has had such an impact on you and literally changed your life like my relationship with exBoyfriend has. But all good things come to an end for a reason. It’s the right time for us to go our separate ways. I think its human nature though, certainly it is for me, to reminisce at a time like this. And that’s what makes me sad.

We had it so good for so long. Such great memories. Great friends and families, exciting holidays, brilliants homes, so much fun. So thankful that we’ve had not one ugly moment that detracts from those memories. And the boys, Jackson and Sam. Damn I’m gonna miss all of that. And exBoyfriend is a great man. I have nothing but total respect for him. We taught each other so much and learnt so much together. There is going to be a gaping, huge hole in my life without him in it day-to-day. I will miss him unbelievably.

But talk about life going full-circle! I first moved to Sydney in 1996 not knowing anyone. I rented a shoebox studio on Crown St in Darlinghurst and began my life here. Lived on my own for two years while finding my feet in the big-smoke and then have shared a house ever since. 15 years later I am back on Crown St living on my own; thank god the apartment is nicer and bigger this time.

A big part of me is so excited about this new adventure. It’s going to be very cool. But for today I can’t help but be sad. Sad because of what is coming to an end.

Thank you so much Ash, I will be forever grateful for the last 6 years.

**Sorry, no comments today, this one was for my own therapy, not to get a reaction. x

Amy Adams Is Lois Lane In Zack Snyder's "Superman"

Fiery redhead Amy Adams is ready to add a touch of awards season class to Zack Snyder's Superman. With his imaginative action-adventure flick Sucker Punch coming in second at the box office this past weekend (behind Diary Of A Wimpy Kid: Rodrick Rules), the director phoned the three-time Oscar nominee from Paris to let her know she'd been chosen to play Lois Lane in his upcoming Man of Steel reboot.

Los Angeles Times got the first scoop on Snyder's reasoning behind choosing Adams to play one of the most iconic love interests in superhero history. "It goes back to what I've said about Superman and making him really understandable for today," said Snyder. "What's important to us is making him relevant and real and making him empathetic to today's audience so that we understand the decisions he makes.

Adams joins an ecclectic cast that includes Henry Cavill (The Tudors) as Clark Kent/Superman, as well as Kevin Costner and Diane Lane as Kent's adoptive parents here on Earth. The hunt is still on to fill the bad guy roles, now rumored to be the trio of General Zod, first lady Ursa, and guerilla grunt Non, who last battled the Kryptonian crimefighter on the big screen in Richard Lester's Superman II. Edgar Ramirez (Carlos) and Michael Shannon (Boardwalk Empire) are rumored for those roles as of now.

Snyder's film is due in theaters in December 2012.

Mackerel Coach: SNSD have beautiful legs but no longer unrivalled

Is there an idol who could match SNSD members’ beautiful legs?
On Cable Channel SBS E!TV’s Entertainment information program ‘StarQ10′, the beautiful leg idols terminator will be revealed. Trainer Choi Sungjoon who is known for his fitness guidebook ‘Mackerel Coach’ will reveal the idol with the most beautiful legs (according to the trainer).

Body figure is essential to stars. Slender and slim figure seem to be the mandatory requirements for girl groups. SNSD members are not only known for their amazingly beautiful legs but they also have the best body lines among the girl groups in Korea.

However, according to trainer Choi Sungjoon, a new idol that could match them has arrived. He then dropped a curious hint saying, “The new idol who is the ‘beautiful legs terminator’ could match SNSD, the girl group under the management of SM Entertainment”. The identity of the so called ‘beautiful legs terminator’ will be revealed on March 30th at 7.30pm KST on StarQ10.

2NE1 Adidas Making Film

Lil Wayne By Paris Hilton, Dimitri Ehrlich

First, a few facts: Born Dwayne Michael Carter Jr., the 28-year-old rapper now known as Lil Wayne-or sometimes Weezy-grew up a straight-A student in a neighborhood called
Hollygrove in New Orleans's 17th Ward, which was among the hardest hit areas of the city during the flooding in the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina. Young Dwayne, soon to be Wayne, began his career as a near-novelty act, parlaying his love of late-'80s and early-'90s hip-hop and rap-tinged R&B into a career as a kiddie gangsta rapper, signing with the cult-legendary local hip-hop label Cash Money Records as one half of a duo known as The B.G.'z (the other half was a kid named B.G.) when he was 12-the same age he accidentally shot himself in the chest with a handgun, reportedly missing his heart by just a centimeter. But even that didn't slow him down. He soon joined another Cash Money act, The Hot Boys-which featured Juvenile, a local rapper who was already making a name for himself as a solo artist-and enjoyed his first taste of pop stardom when the quartet's 1999 album, Guerrilla Warfare, debuted at number five on the Billboard charts.

Having flooded the market with an almost nonstop flow of releases-some official, some on mixtapes, some as a guest rapper on other people's tracks (he now commands a reported $150,000 an appearance)-Wayne finally established himself as a solo megaforce in 2004 with the release of the Tha Carter, which unveiled to the world the Wayne we all know today: a spastically flowed force of hip-hop nature whose subject matter ranges from the blingtastic to the bizarrely psychedelic, and whose asymmetrical rhymes, delivered in a raspy, Auto-Tuned croak, have since appeared on dozens of hit singles and earned him four Grammy Awards and millions of dollars. Wayne's 2008 album, Tha Carter III, sold more than a million copies in its first week, and while he hasn't replicated that level of success since, he hasn't stopped trying. His own label, Young Money Entertainment, prodigiously counts new heavies such as Drake and Nicki Minaj among its recent discoveries, and, this spring, the label will release Wayne's highly anticipated ninth album, Tha Carter IV.

Though Wayne stands just five-foot-six in sneakers, he is a towering force in pop music right now-and, like Sinatra, he likes to do things his way. While he has often called himself "the best rapper alive," a claim many might dispute on purely technical grounds, Wayne is without a doubt one of the most prolific, weirdest, and hardest-working rappers in the game right now. A father of four, he managed to have two children in 2009 by two different women (singer Nivea Hamilton and actress Lauren London) within a 12-week period. He says he has given up the Styrofoam cup of cough syrup he could be seen constantly sipping from in the 2009 documentary Tha Carter. In any event, it would seem he had no choice but to give up such pastimes cold turkey, at least temporarily, when last year he served an eight-month prison term at Rikers Island in New York for attempted criminal possession of a weapon. (If anyone ever doubted his relentless creative restlessness, just before heading to jail he released Rebirth, a rock album.)

By outward appearances, Lil Wayne might not seem to embody the life of a typical religious person, but he is, in many ways, a walking miracle. He has the word fear tattooed on one eyelid and god on the other, but if you blink, you might miss that, since he doesn't seem to close his eyes often, much less sleep. Keeping it real? That's so last year. Wayne's doing something better by keeping the world of pop music unpredictable with his intergalactic alien oddness, and, if nothing else, he has made it a far more interesting and strange place.

Appropriately, when it came time to interview Wayne, we turned to another iconoclast of sorts, Paris Hilton-who, like Wayne, loves music and clubs and has done hard time (in 2007, for violating her probation in connection with an earlier no-contest plea on a reckless driving charge)-to do the honors. Hilton took a break from filming her new reality show, The World According to Paris, in Los Angeles to connect over the phone with Wayne, who was at home in Miami, with a little help from Interview contributing music editor Dimitri Ehrlich.

Drake on first meeting Lil Wayne:
The first meeting wasn't really anything pivotal. It was cool. I think he saw that I was a good kid, or trying to be a good kid, and I was just staring at one of my idols. I stayed on the road with him for a while, about a week and a half. And I think it was the last night before I went back home, we finally got into the studio and made some music.

Nicki Minaj on life without Wayne's mentorship:
I don't ever want to imagine that. I can't even imagine my career, um, my creative spirit without Wayne. I credit him with a lot of what I do. Prior to him, no one relevant in hip-hop really gave me that support. I feel like I'm still intertwined with him creatively. Before I met Wayne, the person that was spearheading my career was the one person who always told me, "Don't be too playful, don't be too kooky and weird... no one's gonna feel that, nobody wants to hear that." So I stifled a lot of that early on, and then once that we parted ways, I was like, "Guess what, I'm gonna just be me."
